Mexican Art - Alebrije Butterfly

Typical of the wonderful Mexican culture, alebrijes are considered guiding spirits, assisting each of us in our lives. They're usually depicted as several animals all joined together, but we thought we'd simplify things a bit and chose some of the most iconic animals.

This brooch is made of two sheets of acrylic/plexiglass. The base is clear. Two supports are mounted on the back, one for each wing. The engravings are filled with acrylic paint.
